tarjar
Hi, After having the Subaru service dealership try to rip me off, I decided to venture out on fixing the famous heat shield rattle. After paying 90 dollars to have the dealership find out what and where the problem is, they quoted me almost 700 dollars to replace the heat shield near the radiator. I passed on that as that seems very high to replace 2 sheets of metal. The problem wasn't even the heat shield near the radiator, but under the engine. This is for a 2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5 1) Jack car up 2) Use rubber headed hammer to find where the heat shield may be loose 3) get a hose clamp and clamp down section. So, props to this forum with their ideas on fixing this as it is very easy. I am no way a gear head, but do not be afraid to attempt to fix this problem. Thanks again Edited June 27, 2010 by tarjar
Olnick
Way to go! Congrats! BTW, I'd go back to the dealership and ask for my money back if they didn't locate the actual source of the noise.
