hodgemom Posted July 4, 2010 Share Posted July 4, 2010 I have inherited my dads 1979 subaru brat and would like to reinstall the ac system. The control inside the truck is there but everything under the hood was taken out. I have since reordered the compressor, radiator fan and condenser. I have no diagram of the ac system and dont know what else I need, besides the lines, brackets and the duct work for under the dash. It was a dealer installed option but came from the factory with the label on the controls. Subaru did that up through the '80s. The bracketry for the alternator is different since it incorporates the bracket for the AC compressor IIRC. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
SUBARU3 Posted July 6, 2010 Share Posted July 6, 2010 I have a large pile of various AC components for your BRAT. It's a good start on getting the original system up and going. You will need to fab hoses and get the evaporator and condensor, but there is a brand new wiring harness, compressor, new clutch, belt, switches, relays, vents, etc. It includes the engine mount. I also have the large fold out of the original installation instructions with GREAT graphics and the parts inventory Currently biffanyus has 1st dibs, but if he changes his mind, all of it will be available. I have talked to so many people and places I'm going crazy. I have probably talked to the same people over and over again and don't even know it. I posted a new thread (someone suggested I do that) and someone else told me to be patient. So thats what I'm doing. I'm just new to all this and really don't have a clue of what I'm doing.
