92 Loyale FSM & Brat heater Coil question

Recommended Posts

I've got an 85 Brat that I'm working on a mild Custom / restoration. Dashboard was severely cracked and I was able to find an uncracked replacement for $75. I've got the old dash out, but I remember reading a comment in a thread somewhere that I should replace the heater coil while I've got the dash out. Any truth to this?

And I recently bought a 92 Loyale with the Push button 4WD (no Turbo) and I was wondering if anyone had a link to a EA82 FSM.

Thanks, AJ

You mean the heater "core"?

I would not touch it if it's not leaking and the coolant was clean and green colored. They don't typically fail - more often they get clogged or what fails is the heater control valve that controls flow through the core. But don't replace that either unless it's bad - they are NOT cheap

You should replace all the foam around the flapper doors and the heater core, etc though. That stuff is likely shot and replacing it will help a lot with preveting air leaks through your duct work, etc.

Well, it was pretty warm when I bought it so I never turned on the heater to see if it worked. It doesn't seem to have leaked based on the lack of staining on the carpet and the lack of the syrupy smell in the cab.

To replace the foam around the "ductwork" in the cab, what kind should I use? Anything special or just the basic single side taped the you can use around home doors?
