artie b
Hi, I have a 1990 Legacy L 5mt. I broke down the AC, flushed, reoiled w/ ester oil, vacced, recharged with 134a. I have 34 on the low side and only 100 on the high side? Could I possible have something else wrong other than a compessor? I'm not an expert, but have had very much success in doing this before? Looking for some things to check
Scoobywagon
what was the ambient temperature? when you took those measurements?
Legacy777
I'm assuming the compressor is on for those measurments? How many cans (oz) of 134a did you put in? Are the manifold valves closed on the gauges?
artie b
Yep, the gage manifold was closed and ambient was 87 f or so. The hi side should be closer to 600-650 lbs or so? AC comp. on, teh comp seems like it doesn't load the engine, and I don't get the high speed fan action that should happen when the pressure switch goes closed. I'll probally get it fixed in time for our first snowfall!!! I have another Calsonic that I believe to be good.... I'll keep trying, thanks Scoobywagon and Legacy777
artie b
I will put another unknown compressor on and see if my hi side comes up... The system does balance after about 20 min. or so. tells me not plugged. Easy way or the hard way, here I go, thanks, Artie Update, I replaced compressor, evaperator, rec/dryer, revacced, and all is good, thanks to those who helped, Artie Edited July 22, 2010 by artie b fixed the problem
