nitsuj80
I pulled the EA-81 out of my 83 GL to pull/rebuild the heads and a few other things and wanted to know what gaskets you guys thought I should go ahead and change out when the engine is out. This is what I plan on replacing so far. -Head Gaskets (Perma-torque) -Intake (OEM) -Valve Cover Gaskets (OEM) -Oil Pan (OEM) -Rear Main (OEM) -Exhaust Manifold Gaskets (OEM) Let me know if you guys think I am missing anything. hatchsub
If the motor is out it might be a good idea to do the front crank seal (behind the crank pulley) as well as the oil pump gasket. Just make sure when your pulling the oil pump out not to put any side to side load on it otherwise you might snap it off. Otherwise your list looks about like mine. If you dont/cant go oem on the exhaust gaskets for whatever reason you can get good ones from napa. You have to ask them to look exhaust gaskets for an 85 1.8L subaru turbo car and you will get the high quality gaskets your looking for from the dealer too...might even be cheaper from napa too. hackasubaru
I'm doing the same on my EA82 engine, I was replacing the water pump also so I ended up doing a seal on that too. Might be a good idea but probably not too important.
