I have 1 valve (lifter) that is clicking almost continually and ready to see if it's an easy fix. Thank you for anything you have to offer. Awww, but that takes all the fun out of it... As for cleaning your oil passages, I highly recommend using a quart of ATF in place of a quart of oil on your next oil change or running seafoam in the oil for 5-10 minutes before you do your next oil change. There are many write-ups on how to use seafoam, just do a quick search using the keyword "seafoam" and you'll get plenty. Twitch PS: Make sure you clean your valve covers immaculately otherwise you could end up with a leak. In your case I'd go for the ATF first, as it seems your problem is just from lots of wear and may need some minor cleaning. 250k is up there for just about any EJ. Plus the additives in the ATF would probably be good for your seals where as seafoam tends to be hard on those. Good luck and hope your tick goes away! porcupine73 Posted July 31, 2010 Share Posted July 31, 2010 If you're taking it apart, I would definitely snake the oil passages you can access. There was a note on endwrench about ticking on some engine that was attributed to a plugged passage there.
