4byRoo
Ok, I have an 89 GL auto PB 4wd, and I want a turbo 5 spd DR If I buy a turbo wagon 5speed, will I have to swap the engine, or are they the same minus the turbo? I know with my eclipse they were two completely different engines, etc...but wasn't sure how the subees did it. Feel free to rag on me
calebz
You have a single range non turbo car .. and you want a D/R Turbo.. get a turbo car and then find a D/R to swap in(RX was the only turbo car that came with a D/R.. and it isn't exacly like the normal 4WD D/R) In my opinion, its not worth it to try to turbo an N/A soob.. Skip
4by, no rag here, please do yourself a favor and read these two recent posts on the same subject on doing the turbo conversion The 5 speed D/R swap is very easy in comparison. You will need to swap the axles. EA82 convert to turbo Parts need for turbo conversion
Caboobaroo
but if you want to keep the same axles and rear diff, you have to find an RX with the dual range 5-speed BUT the only years that the RX came with that tranny was in 85 and 86. When they redid the RX in 87.5, that changed to a full time 4wd dual range 5-speed with diff lock
