Hi there. Introduced myself back around January and haven't really been on the forum much since. I'm currently driving an 02 outback sedan with the H6 engine. I've had almost no problems and am looking at buying another Subaru. I'm looking at a 06-08 Impreza RS. Just wondering if anyone is familiar with these years and if there is anything that should be avoided. I'm wanting to stay with the RS as opposed to the WRX for mileage reasons. I know if I had the turbo the pedal would be on the floor a little more and defeat the purpose of running a car back and forth to work as opposed to my truck. Any help would be great.

Thanks,

I haven't heard anything negative about them. The one thing to note is that 2008 was the first year of the new body style. There were some changes with the suspension and other goodies. So depending on what you're looking for, the change in body style may help narrow things.

Im getting pretty good mileage with my wrx. Often 27-30. I have a 2009 Hatchback.

Sometimes I get 32-33 with my Cobb Accessport set on Economy mode but this map suggests (strictly) that you do no spirited driving with that map enabled.

I like the power when I want it, the firmer ride, and mileage when I stay out of it.

We own an 07 impreza wagon and an 08 outback sport. I like the seats in the '07 better, and when they were both stock the '07 seemed to handle a little better. The obs had a lot of body roll, but an sti sway bar helped that quite a bit. Now they feel like they are about the same.

They both accelerate about the same (not to quick), we have named the obs "steady betty" due to its even acceleration...

The obs gets between 28-33 depending on how its being driven.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up picking up a 2010 impreza 2.5i sport Hatchback. I bought it out of province and spent just a little more than I was looking at for an older car. It was used only 1 year and had 38000km on it. Sold and serviced by the same dealer I picked it up from. Came with aftermarket Enkei 17" RPT-F1 wheels and Hankook performance summer tires. So far I love it. Handles great, acceleration is acceptable and I think it's a pretty sexy car with the wheels and tires it has. I have to pick up some good winter tires and mount them on steel wheels here in the next couple months. thanks again for the input. i suppose with the newer vehicles only time will tell if they'll be as reliable as the older soobs but hopefully it works out. Mileage I think is between 9.5 and 12 L\100km (darn metric system) I haven't calculated it, that's just what the gauge on the dash reads.
