skishop69 Posted August 30, 2010 Share Posted August 30, 2010 Push the little lever on the side behind the head rest and it should slide up and down the rail. There are several 'detent' squares cut in the side of the rail that lever locks into. If you can slide it, hose it down with penetrating oil.... hatchsub Posted August 30, 2010 Share Posted August 30, 2010 One of the mysteries of the EA81 cars. I never figured it out myself. Once you pull the headrest up you cant get it back down again. Maybe the little dents in the posts on the headrests are held in place by a ball bearing with a stiff spring or something mounted inside the seat frame... Over time the springs kinda get crusty and then its harder to compress them and therefore move the headrest up and down. Again... this is just a THEORY of now they constructed it. I'm not familiar with those types, but several others have a small paper clip sized hole at the base of the head rest shaft on one or both sides (in the plastic ring/busing on top of the seat cover).
