Multi Port Fuel Injection for EA82 Engines

Featured Replies

I have a '87 GL-10 EA82T that has been having engine issues. I finally discovered that the front passenger cylinder isn't firing consistently due to corrosion of the electrical contacts inside the connector for the fuel injector. So my question is do later EA82 engines have MPFI as well? If so, are they the same as the injectors and wiring for my '87 MPFI with Turbo? The injectors are ok, it is the wiring harness on the engine I need to replace. Does any one have one?

The actual injector harnesses can be individually purchased I think. But a used one would be pretty easy to find.

Any of the MPFI EA82's (Turbos (85 through 90), and XT4s) would have the same connectors for the injectors.

Send a PM to "losingalltouch" here on the board. She is parting out an '86 turbo and will have the connector(s) you need. Should easily go in a priority mail box.

So the wiring would have to come off a Turbo vehicle? The later EA82 motors in Loyales didn't have multi port injection? Or are they just different?

Correct - only the turbo's and the XT's got the MPFI - all others were SPFI or carbed. An XT6 injector harness might work but IDK.

It's a pretty standard bosch style injector connector.

You can buy them pretty cheap at auto parts stores or on ebay or from summit.

Solder on new ones....it's not worth it to replace the whole entire harness with another old crusty one (the newest you could find would be a 91)

Trust me, just order a kit for say a nissan 6cyl and you'll be set. (4 for the injectors, 1 for the CTS, and 1 for the AAV)

I was able to buy new fuel injector connectors on ebay for a whopping $2 each. Thanks for the advice.
