Brat score!!! UPDATE

Recommended Posts

Well, I just bought another Brat this morning. Worked out a deal with the guy for some trading. The original price was $1500 so we'll see what it comes to after the trade. It's an '87 with no rust through and in really great shape!

Sorry about the double post. Something went wrong. Please delete the other...

Looks like the one I recently posted in the ebay/craigslist forum. Nice pickup.

Why yes it is. I found it on CL right after he posted it, spent some time on the phone with him and went out this morning to seal the deal. He has a Corvette that needs work and lucky for both of us, I'm the Corvette tech at work....

As much as I'd still love to eventually buy yours Ed, this one isn't going to require too much for a full resto. I can do everything but the paint and my buddy does custom work and does it hella cheap for me. I'll still end up spending close to what I would have for yours, but this way I get to keep the majority of my funds for now and have the satisfaction of, "I did it!" Woohoo!

Well, I think you got a great deal. Enjoy the restoration; you'll be happier with what you've done than buy a fully restored one for more money.

And to be honest, my Brat won't command the price I wanted for it in the current economy. My wife also decided we should keep it. So it is out of the garage now and is an occasional daily driver for when we need its unique capabilities. It is not a "parts hauler" or anything messy. Sometime when I find a power steering rack and assembly, I think I'll install that so it's a bit easier to drive and park.

Just a little update. I finished the trade with the guy and brought the Brat home. I ended up paying about 1/2 of the $1500 asking price. I'll try to get some pics up before I put it in storage. I still have a current Brat project I'm working on that won't likely be done until late spring and my dd Brat is purring along nicely. Looks like there might also be a 4th one in the works soon.....
