air ride:stuck dump valve?

Recommended Posts

Have you checked for a leak at the compressor itself? They do get old and blow seals too.. Try PMing Electrycmonk.. Hes another one of you weirdos that insists on keeping the air ride on his cars.(quick elbow in the ribs to steve:D) He has 3 functioning air ride cars and now has quite a bit of experience dealing with its crap.. er.. uh.. quirks.. If you do insist on keeping it, be sure to do 2 things. Create a seperate bank account and continuously put moderate amounts of money in there to keep your air ride in shape. And make sure you set aside at least half of your yearly scheduled vacation time to work on it.

(Is it obvious that I don't feel bad about my car not having air ride anymore?:D)

When driving the vehicle in question does the "HEIGHT" button light flash?

If so, the air susp control unit can be put into diagnostic mode.

The same light will then flash a series flashes.

Decode the series and it will tell you what component is not with in spec.

My advise, if you plan on keeping this, is to get your hands on a FSM.

I'm on your side, they are nice, but they are also somewhat complex.

Trouble shooting can be done with nothing more than a DMM,

pressure gauge and the all important, FSM.

I'm sure

Steve will Unicycle you down the path to glory

It's true. Steve and Skip are briliant at this stuff. Don't be discouraged I just got mine up for $15.90. Bad compressor. Does the compressor come on and not inflate the system? Does it inflate sometimes and not others? Does the whole system fail or just certain struts? There is also a wealth of info about the air ride at XT6 Forum . Let me know if I can help.

thanks for the tips.

the ride height light occasionally flashes while driving, but if you shut down and start up again, it goes away. While running, all four corners cycle up and down simultaneously. That why i was thinling that ,heres my air brakes experience talking, that theres may be a valve not seating properly.

Gotta go ,super rooS engine is done and im off to pick him up.Apparently some interesting and fun things got bolted on during thr transplant!!!!!!!!!!
