175s would still be wider than the 155s that are on there now.

Any ideas on my startup issue?

Seems to happen when cold...

Any ideas too on if I can put Power Steering on this?

starup issue... you say once you give it gas it dies out? if so could be carb needing cleaned/adjusted or disty adjustment sounds like a carb issue tho..

Yes, I have a camera... which I will record a video about it.

Not sure how to upload.

But its me turning it on, and when its cold, I give it gas ( I know it has a flat spot) and it runs okay, but then if I take my foot off the gas, it shutters for a few seconds and dies.

I can also record a video of the squeaking it makes when Im driving from the front right wheel.

I will take a video tomorrow...

PO had seats reversed... Like COMPLETELY.

Rails were even on the wrong seats :(

Had to pull both seats out, switch the rails, and put the seats back... Wondering why I couldnt recline my seat... Cause they were JAMMED into the center console and you couldnt reach the reclining handle..

Bent the center console up too :(

If you get your alternator at Autozone... GET A LIFETIME WARRANTY. (my GL went through em like a fat kid eating candy... mmm candy)

Or... consider asking Richie at Superior Import Repair www.fixmysuby.com if he has any used ones cheap. (or anyone else local)

Hopefully once you get a proper charge coming from the alternator the battery will be ok. At least since you are a 5 speed you can get it rolling and pop the clutch in 2nd if needed.

And on the tires, since you are FWD yes you could mismatch tires to some extent. Say a pair of toyos on the front and good years on the back or something would work. I would still try to keep them the same size all around and the same brand/wear on each end of the car.

If you look at a used tire place... sometimes they really aren't that good a deal. say each tire is $10, but then you gotta mount and balance, disposal fee... ya $100 later you have a set of used tires with half or less of their life left. Someone on here may have a set of 4 lug tires/wheels with a good set of tires for less than that, or sometimes tires in 13" size go on sale for like $19 each plus mount and balance. Not a heck of a lot more for brand new tires (with a warranty too if they are from les schwab)

I will look around. My front tires are ready to blow, so those are going to be the first things I replace for tires, can run my spare if needed, but hope to put two used on the front, and replace the axle boot and the wheel bearing.

Project now: rear fuel filter :P

You mentioned needing a window to go up and down. A trip to u-pull it (maybe ask around and see if anyone has seen EA81's there) and grabbing a whole window regulator out of a door would probably be the easiest way to make your window work again. Swapping the innards of a door is not THAT hard.

I'm happy to help with that, but I don't have alot of free time.

I would love the help :)

So what parts should I get? Jacob (renob123) came out and said that the handle should be grabbing a gear, so that the window goes up and down, and its not grabbing that..

Without a lot of free time, its hard to say come look at it, Ill get the parts and then have you come back, I have loads of free time, but thats cuz I have no job and only 3 days of school a week.

He told me to remove the other door panel and look at it, so Ill do that here soon and see what I can see :D

If the handle is just spinning I am guessing one of 2 things is wrong.

A: The plastic handle is stripped and just spinning on the metal axle thingie

B: The gear on the metal axle thingie or the gear teeth on the big arm that moves the window up and down is stripped.

If you glass is good you won't need to grab that from the junkyard. Quite honestly you could basically learn the whole procedure from the removal process. Just reverse it to put it back in. Its been like 6 years since I did one but, I think you carefully pull the armrest and window crank (make sure it works first though!!) then if you want you could pull the door handle and latch junk out of the way. I forget if its necessary (as I was swapping door skins) Roll down the window a bit til you can see the bolts that hold the glass to the regulator. Undo them carefully. Then raise the glass back up and prop it with something. Or take off the door trim outside and just pull the glass up and out. Remember if you break stuff in the junkyard who cares... its a learning process so you dont break YOUR car. Then I think you can roll the regulator down and unbolt it. Wiggle it around and carefully pass it out through one of the holes in the door.

Save all the bolts for it (put them back in their respective spots on the regulator once its out... its always good to have spares)

You will want to only look at a regulator on a sedan or wagon. A hatch or brat would have a different one (longer)

Keep in mind admission is $2 so it would help if you knew if one was there in the yard before you went in.

You should not need much more for this process besides a few screwdrivers, pliers, and typical subaru wrenches / sockets. (IE 10, 12, and maybe 14 or 17 MM)

^^^I'm pretty sure it's that, but it's hard to tell just by feel.

If you want to pull the assembly at the junkyard, make sure you have some extenders for your sockets.

Alright, I will keep you informed, my old bumper is back up on C-List for $30, so hopefully it gets bought and Ill have some money for that this upcoming week.

Did you find an alternator that would work?

My old alt is probably at GD's. I'll check and make sure, though.

Ill be out there tomorrow to help him organize while he helps on my car.

Are you gonna bring the frankenmotor brat there?

It's sitting there right now. I may be down tomorrow. It depends on whether we figure out the Brat's next secret weapon:cool:
