BoxersOnly
How do you guys hook up the chain to lift an EJ25 ? I used a towstrap wrapped around the cylinders and wrecked the timing belt cover Any hints/tips are welcome. Rob.
theotherskip
there is one lift point on the metal part between the alternator and a/c compressor, and there is a lifting ear diagonally back near the bellhousing... these picture don't highlight it, but you can kinda see it... frag
Thanks Skip, this will be useful for everybody. Question: what's the lifting capacity of the hoist you used? Is half a ton safe enough?
99obw
Half a ton should be more than enough. Last weekend I installed a 302 V8 with AOD tranny attached with a half ton hoist.
theotherskip
the chain hoist was rated for 500 lbs. i used two 2x6's nailed together for a beam, supported by a roof header on one side and some 2x4's with bracing on the other. held it very securily. i would estimate the weight of the whole assembled engine to be around 250 lbs...
