Electric quarter window in my EA81 Hardtop

Recommended Posts

Hi, so it's getting colder & my rear window is part way up with a dead motor. Can someone suggest a method or tool to force it up fully? I will replace the window regulator sometime when it is more convenient, but for now I want it rolled up.

Also, I tried to force it up by hand to no avail.

Thanks for the input!

your going to have to take the panel off and get to the motor and either push up the window with the bar thats attached to the window or replace the motor.

Hi,

+1 for what stephen115 said, once you get the trim panel off unplug the motor from the harness and put 12v to the 2 wires giong into the motor. reversing the 12v will move it either up or down. if it does not move then the motor is dead , or the mechanism is very stuck, if it does move, look for another problem like switch or bad connection.

i think i have a replacement if you need one. the rear mechanism for the hardtop is kinda weird.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am looking for new motors all around (4), but in the meantime I am hoping to figure a way to raise the glass by hand. It seems like a hassel to get the pannel off & I need a temporary fix.

As far as sourcing the replacement regulator, any suggestion helps. I'm not sure where to buy a new one so I was thinking the local dc electric repAir shop could rebuild the old ones.

you *could* "roll" it up with some duct tape :lol::lol: Nascar that sucker. It's hard as crap to get all the tape gunk off later though.:)
