Gentlemen,

I have searched my 2007 OBW LTD from front to rear, inside, everywhere, and there is no paint code label to be found. Not on the rad support, the shock towers, the firewall, the inner fenders, the edge of the driver's door, the B pillar, or the trunk under the spare tire. Did this thing get built without the label being installed? The car was brand new when I bought it.

I have the rear bumper cover off the car, prepped for paint, and no paint code. The car is the two tone light silver metallic topside and gray rockers and bumpers used from 2005 to 2007. I need only the gray code, and have only been able to find online the code 35S Granite Gray Metallic, but I cannot verify it is correct. Can anyone verify?

Many Thanks!

Gene

most subarus, and the baja, should be on one of the top of the strut towers in the engine bay, on the door jamb, or the edge of the door itself. it's a 3 digit code, you'll have to use that code to extract the lower trim code.

did you try asking the dealer? they should be able to find it exactly via your VIN number.

According to cars101.com the 2005 OBW used a Brilliant Silver metallic

with Granite Gray Opal accent color.

According to this site: http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/aclchip.aspx?image=2005-subaru-pg01.jpg

The color code for Granite Gray Opal Accent is 35S.

Just about every where says that the color code is on the VIN plate near the drivers strut tower. IIRC because you have a two tone paint scheme the paint code will be 3 characters that will need to be decoded to get the base and trim colors.

mike is correct the 3 digit code will translate into two other codes - one for the base paint, one for the trim.

i think any place that does paint can do that decoding though, so you just need the 3 digit code. i took my 3 digit code from my two tone OBW to NAPA and they could get the paint for it.

you have to be careful going by the names though, generally it's best to stick with the number only when communicating or looking stuff up at all. sometimes there are multiple colors with the same "name". Subaru may not do it, but i know other makes will have the same name "Jack Leg Silver" but 3 or 5 different codes for that same name.

I know this sounds ridiculous, but check under the rear carpet around the spare tire. I seem to recall having an outback come into the body shop I worked at and they eventually found the code somewhere in the back. I don't remember exactly where, it was a really obscure place that you would never think to look. It was the trim code they were looking for as well.

I stripped the entire rear of the car and no colour code label. As I stated earlier, there is no label anywhere on this car.

Anywhoo, I called the dealership where I purchased the car and, yes, they stated it was a 3K3 two tone, 35S being the granite gray opal metallic needed for the lower body cladding. So the bumper was painted this morning, and I'll throw the whole thing back together tomorrow morning.

Thanks everyone!
