redline808
Hi, I am working on a 2000 Subaru Forester that needs the automatic transmission replaced. trans code in the car is TZ1A3ZCZAA and I want to know if I can replace that with an automatic from a 1999 Outback Legacy. Tras code in the Outback is TZ1A2ZJEBA. Will it fit? From what I understand the final ratios are the same. 4.444, is there anything else that is different? electrical connections? If anyone knows, please post. Thank you.
idosubaru
it'll bolt right up and the final diff ratio's are the same. electronics are the only question, i'm almost positive it should be the same though. pretty sure the connectors changed with the trans so if the trans wiring connectors are the same it's probably a direct swap. not sure why the junkyards don't list them as a direct swap but they don't list ANY legacy's as a swap, which i know is wrong so i'm guessing they just don't know. soobyhobby
FYI. I put a 2001 Outback auto trans TZ1A into a 1998 Outback TZ10 and its been working great ever since. They both had external oil filter. Edited January 23, 2014 by soobyhobby
