Looking for specs and feedback

Ok so I have a 97 Leg OB and I want to build a motor to put in it. C/A, bigger TB, cams, LW flywheel and clutch upgrade, header back.. ect.

Heres my options I have both a 97 ej22 and 97 ej25 engines sitting in my garage. I want to know what you guys think i should go with and why, and personal tips and such. Also I am very interested in learning as much as I can about the head swap options for these motors (2.5 heads on 2.2 block and vise versa) Thanks in advance.

Search for "Frankenmotor". You'll find some good stuff about it.

A lightweight flywheel is going to do more harm than good in an Outback. You lose energy potential in the crankshaft, which means you have less momentum, which you really kinda need to get the Outback moving. Lightweight flywheels also tend to be problematic with uneven wear, and usually have to be replaced at each clutch change because they're too thin and can't be machined to renew the friction surface.

Good you found us!

And yes subarus really do not like lightened flywheels, they need that mass to run well. The opposed engine layout a lot of forces get cancled out and so does the kenetic energy. The stock flywheel makes up for that loss.
