desertdirk
Hi, just found this forum. I have a 1985 soob GL with a 1800 non-turbo 4 wheel drive. I am trying to get to the blower for the heater but can not find/get to it. The manual I have says to remove the radio console, but that seems to be the whole dash. I have removed the panel around the shifter and 4wd selector. also the heater control panel. Where do i go from here? thanks Dirk Edited November 19, 2010 by desertdirk
Loyale 2.7 Turbo
It is located Behind the GloveBox. You must need to Remove it, but Maybe the Heater fan isn't Working due to Fried Resistors... That Happens. Does yours Work in Any Number Position? Kind Regards. desertdirk
Ok I finally found it. thanks. I removed the fan and motor which has a small rubber hose running into the motor which I assume is for cooling. Mice had gotten into the duct work and I could feel inside the fan housing up to the heat exchanger which had mouse nesting material covering it. That same nesting material had gotten sucked into the rubber vent hose to the motor and there were bits of it around the brushes. The fan will turn but I don't know if it is still good. Could not get anything out of it trying to put it to a battery. How do I tell if it is fried resisters? the fan did not work in any number position. hanyou
I am having a similar problem with my 83 brat. Vent, AC, Max AC, and defrost work but heater and bilevel do not work. It sounds like mine is trying to do it but there is zero air movement. Moving houses at the moment so it will be awhile before I have any updates. desertdirk
Fan works now. After removal of fan and disassembly of the motor to remove debris. After reinstall of dash (I took almost everything apart) I had to remove the Off button on the heater control because it was not realizing the complete movement and want not turning off. All works now.
