Lowbuck bum says "hello"

Recommended Posts

I've lurked here for about six months, didn't join as I was just "passing through", or so I thought.

Long, boring, lame, story short: Jack of all trades, my last job was as an industrial electrician/electronic repairman over in Olympia, Wa. Due to some health issues (my body tried to kill me:dead:) I'm barely walking and no longer working. A series of events led my family and I to Eastern Washington, small town (like I grew up in), and I'm happier than a bull elk in rut!

I have always loved cars, grew up logging and farming, exposed at a tender young age to tinkers, adapters, free thinkers, and other assorted nutcases. I caught the disease and have never been the same zzz. My current "concept" (my next project is actually going to be a garage, or something that resembles a garage) is a "Swedish Trike". However, as I cannot use my left leg to operate a clutch, I'm going to be looking for a 2wd Subaru automatic transmission.

I've also spent some time perusing the lifts that have been built on this board, I'm hoping to find a 4x4 wagon with an automatic to wedge my own lift into.

Anyways, thanks for the board, I hope I can contribute, or at the very least, not add to the general decline in intelligence that the internet seems to be suffering from.

Thanks, enjoy the day,

RichG

Welcome aboard!

Sorry to hear about the misfortune :(

I am intrigued at this Swedish Trike, do explain :)

You wont contribute to the downfall of intelligence unless you put a 4 inch fart can on your 2wd subaru with a spoiler of cardboard wrapped in saran wrap to keep it dry and such... lift it with plywood or something

Best of luck!

A Swedish trike is basically a standard delta trike (two rear wheels, one front wheel) that is powered by a mid engine air cooled volkswagen. The design calls for using an empty vw trans case as an adapter/spacer between the engine and the functioning vw transaxle.

Using a Subaru automatic transaxle would be a natural fit, it would already be set up for a mid engine design. I'm thinking that a Kennedy adapter plate could be used in the reverse method that it is intended for: flip the adapter and mount the vw motor to the Subaru transmission. The biggest piece of drivetrain to fabricate would be a spud shaft to mate the two.

I have been known to be overly optimistic in the past...:brow:
