JWX
I finally got it! I now own the Rotary RX. needs a lot of work but nothing I can't handle. so after what six or seven months of trying to get to a point to get it, I've got it. I'm so happy:D (mods if you consider this off topic go ahead and move)

JWX
umm.... Rotary. heres the link for it when it was for sale on SCCA forums http://www.sccaforums.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=46;t=000227#000000 (but I didn't pay that for it)
Russ Hill
O.K., Now you owe it to the world to pull the motor and let some industrious brother copy that adapter plate... Cuz that's the Kicker.... acording to the builder it was a one-off job.
xforxlifex
Thats an amazing car. Someone posted about that once before way bad. Its funny cuz for some reason it popped into my head today. Do post more pics if you've got em. What exactly is wrong with it that it needs a lot of work? Mike
Mike W
Holy smokes I remember that car! Very cool that you got it! Did he ever dyno that 13b? Must be one whoopass RX! Hope you don't mind driving it up to Washington for WCSS6 this summer. Maybe it could even meet it's cousin, a certain blue RX? I was thinking the same thing about the adapter plate! Lot's of 13b's at PullaPart these days.
JWX
I'll have to do that after I get it running. its been sitting for at least two years (so long he forgot when he parked it) needs the intake put back on, some(a lot of) body work, some interior work, other miscellaneous work her and there. Caboobaroo
yeah I want to build me one of those. Get more pics please even if it doesn't run, I'd still like to see how it was all put together and whatnot:D
MaroonDuneDoom
rotary :slobber: if i were to ever build up an engine, it'd be a rotary. i'd use a mazda rotary. a buddy of mine has an RX7 that just hauls balls.
WJM
Dude, thats way cool! Oh, and is that rear window still busted out...? Ive got one...on my RX...pending if someone else doesnt get to it first. Actually, Pleiades has first dibs on that, but if we trande for his rear hatch, we can talk on that matter as well. Forkspear
I saw that on ebay a few months ago for $1000. No one bid.
Dr. RX
The car used to be in Portland, but the guy moved back easy awhile ago. Glad to see a board member ended up with it. I had asked the guy what it would take to put it back to original condition, he wasn't sure, but probably a lot of work since he did alot of mods. The black RXs were built only the last half of 89, they are the rarest of all RXs.

Using the Freedom rotory engine design that the aerocar is currently testing...... imagine the 150HP 125LB of physical weight (N.A. engine) using this mating for a subie? Oh wait they are currently researching a EFI system, turbo system, AND (this has me very curious) a turbo diesel EFI project for the rotory block they are working with..... how about that for project maximus? JWX
he put a regular 3-door hatch on it before it came down (looks good with out the spoiler on it) but its blue and rusted out on the edges, so I'll need a new one(he gave me the spoiler part of the old hatch that he cut up). stuff like that will come after I get it running and looking at it he cut(but never painted over where he cut at so can you say rust!) the crap out of it to get the rotary in there:( , cause I was going to think about getting another 3-door to swtich over the engine and stuff over but this ones allready hacked up a good bit so I'll run this body. I'll go out today and look at it in daylight a little better. but the body is rust free as far as I can tell so that gotta be worth something
RavenTBK
So whats the story with this? Does it run yet? Also, the most important question of all... what about that adapter plate????? I've been secretly planning a 13b swap for the last couple of weeks, when I searched and found this..... so whats the deal?
c150L
Somewhere around here I have an engine (tore down) and trans from a Mazda RX4. (Bout 1974 issue?) I beleive the RX4s had a bigger engine than the RX7s. Rotor chambers in the RX4 were 3" and RX7 were about 2.75" wide. Could be mistaken. I rebuilt a couple of them back in the early 80s and had this one left over. Think it needs a rotor and chamber to go back together. If anyone were interested, it's going real soon. JWX
I haven't had much time to work on it (likely excuse I know) and the Dellotro carb is kind of intimidating me(its got a lot of stuff to adjust on it) so I might try to get a doce weber and put on it for right now. I got the mold and mildew smell out of it( he let it set out uncovered for a while with the back glass broke). but, you could say its coming along nicely (read slowly) and once agian it comes down to the fact, I don't have that much money to throw at it anymore (I quit my job)
