TomRhere
Thanks Guys. Not sure as to what yet to replace HHR. She wants SUV type vehicle. I want a truck. We shall see. Been surfing the web looking, just haven't made a pick yet.

TomRhere
So a Baja sounds in order! I wish!! Way out of my budget range though. Settled for an '08 Chevy TrailBlazer. Shade over 103, 400 miles, for under $9,730 USD. Spent the day running between Dealer and Credit Union, but it's mine now. Pick it up in the morning. Couldn't figure how to get 2 vehicles some 40 miles home all by myself.

TheLoyale
Trailblazer hey, probably a little nicer than the HHR ever was. Yeah I hear you on the Baja situation too. Damn that HHR is mangled, cockpit looks pretty good, A-pillar stayed ridged. Glad you got out of that with nothing serious hurt.

l75eya
Glad you're okay Tom! Sorry about the heritage high roof! Please tell me that trailblazer (right? Or equinox?) Didn't have a straight six.
TomRhere
TrailBlazer, and it has the I-6. Engine sounds good, no issues there. Do believe it's time for serpentine belt, tensioner, idler replacement though. Got some squeal on 1st start. Put some 600+ miles on it since I picked it up. I'm quite "Happy" with it. This thread has gone way off topic. But Hey,,, it's "My Thread" and I started the off topic ranting. So all is good.

TomRhere
Okay..... Fast-forward a couple months...................... Engine is totally re-assembled and ready to drop back down where it belongs. Should have it fired up late tomorrow.
TomRhere
Yesterday, I got engine in and all hooked up minus radiator/hoses and Y-pipe. Got out here earlier this AM, and got all of that squared away. Been trying for the last hour or so to get it started. No joy there. Wants to, just won't fire off and run. Going over everything now. Got spark, T-Belt timing is good, disty timing appears to be good, have fuel to Throttle-body. So I'm currently "In Search Of" the issue. Reading prior posts in here to see if there's a related issue. Thinking there was at one point. More later......
TomRhere
OK. Fast forward about 1 hour. Battery was getting low, so decided to hook up the charger for a bit and have a beer. AaaaaaaaaaaaaaHhhhhhhhhhhh! Got's no beer here........ Quick trip to store took care of that issue. Get back here, put beer in fridge, head out here to garage. Beer in hand of course. Turned the key and she fired right up. WTH?? Maybe she knew I didn't have a celebratory beer at hand. Don't know.. Let her run for awhile, checking coolant temp, and for any signs of leaks anywhere. All good. Sounded good, nice and smooth idle. Got the timing set proper. Let her run a bit more...... Holy Crap,,,, what is that noise from??????? Severe noise from disty-side valve cover. More than I remember TOD sounding like. Question is; Why? Investigation follows. After it cools down that is.
TomRhere
Seems the upper end on both sides aren't getting any oil. That's it,,,, I'm done................. Someone needs to show-up here with two car-haulers/pick-up trucks, maybe a 3rd truck. And take all of this away. More serious than a heart-attack on this. It will all go to the local scraper guy if no one shows here.
TheLoyale
Hmm.... Now why wouldn't anything in the heads be getting oil. Why kind of PSI does the gauge show? Granted dunno how accurate it'd be since I think you used ER27 pump internals on this yeah?
TomRhere
Don't know why. Not in the mood to tear into it. I installed a resealed EA82 oil-pump. The ER27 oil-pump uses a different shaped Mickey Mouse seal, didn't have one of those. Oil pressure was near 50 on the gauge at start up, dropped as engine warmed up. #2 exhaust is making the most noise, with the rest of them on that side making some noise. The #1-#3 side is making noise also.

Mechanical_misfit
It's just time and money right? That's what I keep telling myself with the projects I have going. Bummer to hear it's gone. Wish I would have had the space to pick it up. I just sold the desert fox and am down to the single 88 gl wagon.
