daddycoolj
95 legacy. On cold starts the power steering pump whines and dosen't provide much turning assistance. It stops after minute or so, then all is well. fluid level is good, no belt squeal, and I can't find any leaks. Think the pump has heard the 2 minute warning or is there a magic way to flush the system? Maybe a rack problem?
Rooster2
Pull off the cap, and check the fluid level. It might be low. If not low, then pump is prolly going bad. Replace with one from a wrecking yard. Cost is about $35.
johnceggleston
or try tightening the belt a little. how old is it?
nipper
ALl you need to "flush" the system is a turkey baster. Just drain the fluid in the pump and refill it. If the belt is old replace it, that sounds like the issue. Belts get loose when cold and tighten up when hot.
