1995 Leg Sedan.... drums or rotors?

My daughter's 95 Leg L Sedan seems to be having a problem with one rear wheel locking up with almost no brake pressure on the pedal. Causes big issues on slick roads, as you might imagine. I don't have the car here right now.... so I'm trying to determine first if it has disc or drums on the back.....

 

So... Discs or drums on a '95 Leg? And... what might be making it do that?

my 95 lego L sedan, w/ AWD has disc brakes. it also has ABS.

Yeh. I think if it has ABS then discs all around.

a bad (sticking piston) in the caliper on a disk brake system will cause the problem you describe. Replace the caliper fixes the problem.

It probably has rear drums if it's a basic L model without ABS and a leaking wheel cylinder will coat the shoes in brake fluid and make them grabby like that. Just fixed a similar problem on my 4-wheel-drum truck.....

It's an L model with ABS, AWD.... I'll get a chance to look at it today and make a plan of action. More snow next week... Thanks for the replies!

also make sure that the caliper is sliding freely on the pins

 

if not, take caliper off, clean pins up, regrease with proper brake grease and reassemble - when the caliper doesnt move freely, it can cause similar issues

You know we talk about these issues because they are problems and there are 1000X Subies running around with nothing to report. I worked on a Pontiac recent GM model and it was never off-road and regularly was used and had attention. One of the calipher pins was actually So stuck. I mean it had the little boots on the pins, everything. I had to take the whole thing off then apart and do many things to free it.
