92_rugby_subie
So I noticed that the trunk leaks on a 1986 GL Sedan, through the tail lights. Whats the best plan of action for this? I talked to the guy at Autozone, but he said just black silicone will work.... Having just replaced the tail lights on a 1993 Nissan 240sx, I had used weather stripping and black silicone, and it was cleaner, and didnt leak... Anybody fixed this problem before? -Procedure information (including how to clean the lights, as from experience on a Loyale, that stuff is sticky and near impossible to get off) -Time spent is important (got to know how long this is going to take) Thank you ahead of time! GeneralDisorder
You want butyl rubber - it comes in rolls at any good auto parts / auto body supply, etc. The lights don't have to be cleaned of all the old rubber - just remove dirt, debris, etc. I would not use silicone personally. 92_rugby_subie
You are on vacation lol. But thank you, I will pick up a roll and see what it will take, or we can do it when you get back
Uncle Ed
Hey GD: Did you know that you can get the Butyl- rubber sealer in a caulking tube at the hardware and marine supply stores? At the hardware they call it gutter & flashing sealer. Its made by DAP Inc. And it available in black, white, or gray. 10.1oz tubes. It costs about $6 a tube. For some folks the hardware store maybe a little closer to home. Ed
