ive kinda searched around the forums for this.. just wanna make sure its compatble..

have an 86 gl10 turbo sedan, and i put LARGE tires on it with no lift, and now for some WERID :^) reaswith a manual and push button 4x4 on the gearing is way too high.. the slowest i can drive is 7mph at 800 rpm... and thats a bit fast for wheeling

do the dual range manual trannys bolt up to these motors? like one from an 82 ?

or will i need to do something special?

thanks!

you can make the 4spd fit, if you use an ea82 manual trans crossmember, and make a custom 4wd lever. use the 4spd clutch, flywheel, driveshaft. You will have to re-locate(match) the ign timing marks from the ea82 flywheel onto the ea81 flywheel.

The 4spd will have odd gearing for the ea82 motor, with gears spaced so far apart, you will be dancing with the shifter to keep an optimum rpm, since the ea82 will want to make power at higher rpms, and there is a lot of rpm drop with upshifts in the 4spd

you would be best to find a 5spd, better yet, a complete donor car

And gear ratios are different I just found out.. too much work! LOL

swapping rear diffs is easy. That shouldn't stop you.

But you will need to get some standard axles. Your turbo axles will have 25 spline inners.....you need the 23 spline.

The 4spd from an 82 would not be worth the effort.
