I can't see how the starter still reaches the flywheel after loosing 1/4" of reach by adding the 1/4" adapter plate. U:banghead:nless the ej block pushes it closer by design/coincidence. This is what happens when you work on your car in the back of your mind:D Is it just plug and play? Numbchux Posted January 11, 2011 Share Posted January 11, 2011 bellhousing depth is less on the EJ engine than the EA82. So the thickness of the adapter plate is necessary to keep the flywheel the same distance from the input shaft, and therefore the starter as well. so yes, it'll work just fine. GeneralDisorder Posted January 11, 2011 Share Posted January 11, 2011 There's no difference. The adaptor plate is designed to put the tranny in the same location relative to the EA flywheel. Thus it works just fine. The EJ does push everything closer because they don't use stepped flywheel's on the EJ's. That was part of making them larger yet not longer.
