92_rugby_subie
My 1986 Subaru GL Sedan leaks oil, and from the look of the pavement, its quite a bit... I havent gone under and looked at it recently, but it had just been when it was cold, and when it first started up and was warming up, itd leave a little 1-2 inch puddle, which was no big deal. Now Im worried that a neighbor is going to complain or whatever. Is this solveable by pulling the engine, replacing all the seals and gaskets or will it still leak? lostbrat
Get under it and look!!!!!!!!! Could be as easy as loose oil filter. Mostly likely oil pump gaskets.orings. could be crank seal too or oil pan ...or???? Rear main. may have to wash area to pinpoint.
92_rugby_subie
Whats best way to wash? Just go to a car wash (self serve) and just spray it down?
lostbrat
Purple power is a good one........or an engine degreaser. At the auto store.....spray on cold engine let soak.rinse.repeat as necessary. put bag over distributor and still be careful not to soak distributor..if doesn't start after rinse.remove dis.cap and dry... Ionlyhave3suubs
Recent oil change? If so was the drain plug crush washer replaced? Sometimes those will leak some if you don't replace them. With oil leaks a small amount of oil spreads out a lot. Your leak may take quite a while to register on the dipstick.
Idasho
Pull the skid plate, and take it to a self-wash car wash. Best way to clean it up. Then drive it for a bit with the skidplate off. It should be pretty easy to spot the leaker.
