opus
How do you get around ripping your door gaskets off everytime it freezes. The little plastic things are totally worthless, they just rip the rubber. Screw them into the door??
bheinen74
the newer ones are even worse than the old ones. 2 steps backward in the engineering of them for a cold climate. Screws may hold the door rubbers, sure dont work the way the engineers did it.
moosens
Silicon spray - won't stick , doesn't hurt the rubber.
opus
Silicon spray - won't stick , doesn't hurt the rubber. Nope, done that. Only works once or twice. Wouldnt matter now anyway, they are all ripped.
bheinen74
lots of other cars actually use more than a toothpick type clip to hold the rubbers into the door. - Subaru needs to design these better. Wax the door jambs so they are smooth. Applying silicone and conditioner does help, but the whole design is partly to blame, of those ridiculously small and flimsy poorly designed clips. Rust
liquid nails worked for me.
1982gl4
After mine all fell off I drilled new holes into the gasket and moved it over a little bit. It appears to be holding up pretty well! In my other car I used WD-40 on the gaskets and that seems to be working okay. I think waxing the jams is a good way to go as well.
MilesFox
3m super weatherstrip adhesive works to glue it back down with its original clips. Clean the surfaces well. Try syl-glide(brake caliper grease) if the spray is not heavy duty enough. The product lists several uses beyond brakes, and one suggestion is trunk lid seals. TomRhere
Cooking spray also keeps the seals from freezing to the door(s).
