or more correctly: yes and no...or sort of no.

 

all EJ's and EG33 are the same prior to 1998.

 

the bellhousing bolt patterned changed in 98 (or 99, pretty sure it's 98 though), but even still you can bolt an old engine up to the new style bellhousing just fine, just different number of bolts (4 and 8). for swapping engines and trans it doesn't matter that it changed.

thanks so a guy with a 2.5 can use my EJ adapter and bolt up a EA82 Dualrange, nother Question are the bolt pattern on the flywheels the same?

Yeah Scott, they can use it. And yes, the EJ "flywheel" bolt pattern is the same.

I have an EJ25 block in my Brat. It has your redrilled flywheel and adapter plate hooked up to a 5-speed D/R.

 

That should answer your questions.
