GordoMillones
well guys i really dont know what to do with my 97 Legacy outback subaru 2.5 i bought an Oil Separator Brand New and believe it or not its still leaking everything was placed correctly sealed... i cant really tell whats causing the leaking could it be the main rear seal? what are some of the common issues for the Leakage? davebugs
You cleaned both surfaced well and used a sealer like Ultra Grey? If you bought an upgraded plate did you get the new matching screws? Has the rear main ever been replaced? Because if it has it may actually be the problem.
GordoMillones
yeah i did all that and the new plate came with matching screws, i bought the car 2 years ago, but they never told me anything about the main rear seal being changed... :-\

davebugs
Sucks. I use a PVC collar. Pay attention to how far the old one is in there and get an OEM. FYI my local dealer doesn't stock them.
idosubaru
are you absolutely sure where the leak is coming from? often other leaks tend to work their way down towards the same area regardless of the source. don't look at where oil is ending up, but where it is originating from. Subaru rear main seals very rarely leak, it's so rare i'm doubtful that's your issue. Of course it's possible it is just a seal, but I would have thought if you have an oil leak significant enough to yank a motor and attempt a fix it would have been quite obvious that it was the rear main seal the first time this was attempted. maybe you need to replace the PCV valve - if it's stuck maybe there's too much pressure in the crankcase and it's blowing out the weakest link? doubt it, but PCV valves are a cheap and easy thing to replace at least once on a car.
