Ron G "tinker"
Got an 86 Subaru Wagon Just got done with the Weber Conversion anyways it is spitting and sputterng after warm up when putting a load on the engine, perfect when cold. So im almost positive that its not anything with the coil, plenty of juice, etc, etc So im thinking the distributer is conking out after 3XXxxx miles on the motor, so i am wondering if the fuel injected models distributer will interchange with the carberated distributer and work? GeneralDisorder
No - the FI distributor is little more than a crank sensor - it does not have the ability to trigger the coil directly. On FI models the input from the crank sensor to the ECU is used to determine when the spark should occur and the ECU then triggers the spark via a transistorized amp near the coil.
