wtdash
This was on my '90 Legacy Turbo (swap). I have a 'universal' CC, 3" In/Out, I bought online 2 years ago. It's directly behind a 3" bellmouth downpipe. When I pulled off my exhaust I heard some rattling. The below 'briquets' came out.....Uh, WTH? Any input is appreciated. Here's look inside to the back of the CC: Magnaflow Hi-flow Cat (94139) Pic: Thanks, Td Edited February 7, 2011 by wtdash
GeneralDisorder
Yep - cat's broke. That can happen with vibration or just from age - the "honeycomb" is very brittle. A good smack will crack it easily. GD
WoodsWagon
The rest of those chunks are stuck in the muffler, give it a shake too. Impact or backfiring in the exhaust can do that too. Reminds me that I need to take the cats out of my truck and shake the pieces out, it retarded the timing to TDC when it set a knock sensor code. I was illegally towing a forester home so I just held it to the boards and kept going. The cat got torched.
