GLwagonlove
So I picked up a sweet 85 GL last week for 400 bucks! It has 112,000 miles on it, and no rust. I thought it was a steal... Anyway, it runs great after I spend 15 minutes getting it started... I have to spray starter fluid into the carb to bring the beast alive. But after it's warm, it runs like a champ. I believe it needs a "new" carb, but I can't seem to find anyone anywhere that can get them, and I haven't found one in a salvage yard. What am I looking for? What models and years can I get parts from? GLs, Brats, Loyale, Early Legacys? It's a carb 1.8 non turbo, auto 3 speed. Could someone give me some insight? I searched google, but now I am even more confused. Thanks Everyone!
markjw
Sounds like the choke system isn't working. Look in the "for sale" forum. They're is a guy selling a Weber carb. His price is fair for a like new one. Get that thing! But, you'll need a adapter plate to fit your GL. Easily bought all over the internet.
