DUBSnSUBS
I have a Subtle 1" lift, plus the quarter inch saggy butt spacers on the way for a 99 SUS (aka Outback sedan), and was wondering what size tires everyone has been running without problems of rubbing or bottoming out. I've been running 205/75/15's for about a year with bone stock suspension with no problems and wondering how much taller I could get away with after the lift install. Any advice would be great. newsoobdude
Hate to say it but, it depends on what tire you get. I've seen 215/75/15 BFG A/Ts on Forester strut lift. If I remember right he rubbed on his front fender edges and inner fenders. I had 205/70/15s on my Outback before lifting and know 215/70/16s are a tight fit and required front fender trailing edge trimming as well as fender well massaging with my 3 inch Highguys lift and Forester struts. As long as you don't hit the strut its self you're good to go. Best thing to do would be go to a big tire shop and test fit different tire manufactures/ sizes. Just out of curiosity though, why the saggy butt spacers with stock suspension? I thought they were only required if running Forester struts and springs or WRX springs and struts for the lowering crowd . Post some pics when you get her done as we ALL love pics, especially of lifted sedans (well, at least I do ) Edited February 15, 2011 by newsoobdude
DUBSnSUBS
Going with the saggy butt spacers to try and level the car, always looks like the back is a wee bit lower than the nose on a flat surface. I hear ya on the difference by brand. The reason I have the 205/75/15s on it now is that I went to replace the tires on my VW Doublecab truck, same size but different maker and the new ones wouldn't fit up under the fender skirts. The new truck tires ended up being Subaru sedan tires. Will post before and after pics IF I ever get the new struts I'm waiting on. Thanks for the input.
