Impreza suspension on EA82?

Recommended Posts

If an EA82 chassis is converted to 5 lug/XT6 parts, will the suspension off an Impreza or Legacy bolt in? I've heard that the front will but the back wont. I just want someone to set the record stright. Also some 5 lug parts from imprezas are bette4r to use than from a XT6. Why? Pics of differences?

Again it looks like you haven't been paying attention. I have discussed this very same topic several times here, Tex has even posted a list f parts need for a conversion. As for the rear set up, on an EA82 they use shocks, not struts, there are two bolts into the body, and one bolt at the suspenion, an Impreza uses a strut in the back similar to the struts in the front, so they need a strut tower to bolt to, there isn't such a tower on an EA82. I'm also working on an idea to bolt a complete Impreza front suspension onto an EA82 car. You want to volunteer a car for the prototype??

Yeah yeah yeah Corky, laugh it up... At least its a REAL WRX, not an "L" with plastic surgery and a heart transplant!!! I know what the GDB suspension looks like. I dont have an EA82 so I cant go look at one. Im trying to decide between an Impreza shell or an EA82 shell. Impreza=expensive & better, EA82=cheap & cheap!

Freak, I'll bet you that not everyone and their uncle has a GC8, that is commonly mis-used in the USA as the code for an Impreza, but in reality, that is the code for a WRX (pre-USA model). Most people will know what you are talking about if you use the code GC8, but if you use the correct code, they wouldn't have a clue, that is because people have mis-used the code too long to know the difference. I also posted this subject awhile ago, and no one who responded had the code GC8 on their Impreza.

Tex is pretty happy with his suspension. A rear sway bar did wonders for his car.

Indeed. But here, if you say GC8, you mean the 93-01 impreza. And they aren't everywhere, the wrxs are.

And. I happen to love my L. The only wrx who beat me in last week's RallyX was a full on Rally car with a rally driver. I beat both an STI and an EVO. The time before when I entered it, I got first place. Plenty of rs's and wrxs behind me. Second place went to a 96 L.

So what is the code for a USDM Impreza Corky?

Zap- Racing is mostly driver and only a little bit car. You're obviously a great driver. As you know, Im in high school, so most of my racing will be of the drag kind. The more HP the better! Also a sleeper would be nice, but if I can find an RS cheap, Im gonna try to get it, or if I decide to use my new engine, it won't really matter what chassis it goes in.

GC6 is the USDM code for the 2.5 RS sedan and coupe.

Otherwise...it goes from there for all different Impreza models...sedan, coupe, wagon, outback sport, L, LX, Brington, AWD, 2wd....etc....
