New Source of 15" Wheels

Recommended Posts

So, you guys all want larger diameter wheels. You usally have to find some dead Pugwhat and get the wheels off of that poor old car or you have to start drilling holes in the hubs and make 6 bolt hubs for Blazer, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda truck wheels. I saw something under the hood of my Subaru. There is a 15" spare tire there. There is tons of rusted out subes in the JY. All you have to do is to get the spare wheels widened by a wheel shop. Then you can whatever offset you want and any width.

that's a cool idea; i think the big question would be cost. a set of peugeots can be had for $12 a wheel at the right parts yard, and even if the costs for other wheels are the same as the spare widenings, there's the choice of wheel style. it would be good to know how much it costs though..

I dunno how much punishment the rims could hold up to either (this was brought up before by someone), they are lightweight temp use spares.... could they hold up to runs to 100+ Mph? Could they handle mud bogging and rock crawling? Hell how would they handle speed bumps and pot holes.

It's been done already - the rims aren't strong enough - they bend very easy.

Also - Stockton wheel will make you whatever you like.

Another thing - one small correction: On the Chevy rims it's easier to just drill the rim. But the hub/rim debate has gone on before around here, and there's really no right/wrong to it. But everyone agrees that drilling the rims is less work.

Oh yeah, this has been covered more than a few times. LIke he said, they are too weak. I lean toward the 6 lug hub mod but I am not aware of anyone who has had a wheel loss using the drilled wheel.

But do some searching and you will see how well it is covered.
