push button to dual range

any ea82 dual range trans is a direct bolt in. you will need a 3.90 diff with your donor trans, as yours is already a 3.7 gear, and the dual range was only 3.9(unless you find an rx trans, full time dual range with diff lock for turbo 3.7))

you will also need 23 spline axles for any non turbo to go with your dual range trans.

you will need the dual range shifter, as it does not have the pushbotton mechanism.

you can still use your original driveshaft, clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, and transmission mounts.

the swap is covered, just search dual range swap or conversion and you will find lots of threads

I'm getting a LSD rearend from a guy for $275 not sure if this a good deal but since I can't find one anywhere else locally I figured its not so bad. Anyway, he thought it came from a '94 loyale. Will this bolt right on my ea82? Sorry if this is a really dumb question...this is my first project car.

It will bolt right into your EA82. All these parts will physically interchange. But, you have to keep track of the gear ratio in the tranny you install and make sure it match's the ratio of your rear diff.

Like Miles said above, because you have a Turbo car, yours is a 3.7 tranny and diff, more than likely. You can climb under the back of your vehicle and read the silver aluminum tag on the back cover of the diff to verify that.

Be careful spending that kinda money on a supposed LSD diff that the owner says came from a Loyale. LSD's never came on Loyale's.

You should search the subject. There is Tons of info on it here. Read this thread first. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=114050

This may not be accurate. I do not recall anyone mentioning that the LSD was removed from the orderable-options on a Loyale. Since a turbo Loyale was offered in 1990, I would expect that some Loyales could have had them.

That being said, it is unlikely to have come from a Loyale, especially a 1994. If it is an LSD unit, it is almost certainly (>99%) a 3.70 final drive ratio. If you went with a D/R (which is most likely a 3.90 ratio), you would need to do some work to swap the LSD unit into a 3.90 final-drive unit.

Perhaps the diff was from a 94 legacy. this would make sense.

if the gear ratios are wrong, you could swap the ring gears onto the LSD with the one you have/need.

I believe the 94 legact turbo sedans were 3.9 rear with vlsd, and this would be correct gear for a dual range(non turbo)

if you are lkucky to find a RX dual range full time, snatch it up, it is the same 3.7 gear as yours, entirely plug and play

Yeah so I got that rear end from that guy for $80. It says 3.9 on it but it doesn't say LSD. Could it still be a LSD rear end?

No.

Not unless it's been modified.

Any LSD with male stubs will have a sticker that says so. Big letters

"LSD"

One from a legacy would say "VLSD"
