johnceggleston
does any one know the routing or procedure for removing the fuel door release cable. mine has quit working and i need to replace it. i think it is rusted, but i'm not sure where to look for it. except at each end of course. i guess re-greasing it may fix it but i still need some help. any one dealt with this before?? thanks
davebugs
On the VW's I just bend the "relese tab" on the door out of the way. Because I don't care if it's locked. Never investigated this on a Subaru because I've never needed to. May be worth considering looking into.
subaru360
I just install a fuel door with a finger pull when the cables go bad. Imprezas had them some years/models. They probably would fit a legacy, everything else does.
Fairtax4me
The cable runs under the carpet/back seat then into the trunk on the passenger side. Probably more of a pita than it's worth to replace, but I would imagine you could fish it out without having to tear apart too much. It might be something simple like the handle broke. MilesFox
you would have to remove the interior panel in the rear, and take up the back seat, and rocker panel plastic trim on the sides, and you should be able to get at it without too much difficulty, if it is indeed broken. you can remove the rear panel to at least inspect the cabe mechanism otherwise pop a quarter or a credit card into the fuel door to pop it open
johnceggleston
if i were keeping the car i'd live with it, but since i'm selling it i'll at least take a look. i'm hoping it is at the front end. the first time i pulled it, it opened but now it won't relatch. i have removed the ''spring'' so the door closes, but i'm using a popsicle stick to open it. not the best for a good sale price. thanks for the help, i thought it might go under the car.
