dunesub
I am getting a rail frame and I am looking to put a 2.2 subaru motor and transaxle out of a 1991 that comes with it in it. I was wondering what the best way of going about rebuilding it was? it has a bad head gasket and or a cracked head and was wondering if I should just spend the money and get 2.5 heads and put them on or just run the 2.2 heads. Is anything needed to make this change? also I need hubs off the front end of a car I wondering what years would work? I am wondering if any of the emissions is needed or if everything can be plugged.
Ioku
the 2.5 heads are only good if your going to turbo it as they will lower the compression ratio. And yes alot of the emissions crap can be gotten rid of because its a OBD1 ecu I have basically the same ecu and engine in my car and have gotten rid of the cats and the whole evap system, just leave the sensors plugged in to the wiring but not hooked up to anything. Ratty2Austin
the EJ22 is a great engine the way it is... adding EJ25 stuff to it (like said before) is only good if you are doing turbo mods or something similar- If I were doing what you are doing, I would just go find a good cyl head to replace the damaged one, and put new OEM gaskets in there, and call it good! if all goes well that engine should run great for many miles after that repair good luck! Oh, and pics of this beast would be awesome! I am curious to what it looks like
