MxNBandit
I have an ea82t 87 subaru Rx with duel ranged trans. I am having power problems with first gear, soon as i let go of the clutch and give it gas it doesn't want to go, but as soon as I get into 2nd+ gears its fine. Friend of mine told me its prob my trans, if that is the case, what would be my options for replacing it?
skishop69
Define 'power problems'. you need to be more specific. Any odd noises? Bogging? Sputtering? If it is indeed atrans issue, you'll play hell trying to find a good RX FT4WD D/R trans. Trust me on that. Any EA82 trans will work depending on what you want and are willing to mod. A part time push button trans with no D/R will go in easy. If you have to have the D/R, you're going to have to cut holes for levers.
ruparts
hi, i doub't it has anything to do with the trans, the ea-82T is somewhat prone to lag, bog , hesitation , sluggishness , and then suddenly goes to pulling fine. a lot of things can contribute to it but the trans isn't one of them, except the automatics. MxNBandit
Well I have been driving this for a while now, and never felt anything like this before, I am a car noob, but when I start letting the clutch out and giving it gas it doesn't feel like there is power going to any wheels. It slowly speeds up and soon as I hit 2nd gear it feels like it supposed to, power is there and everything.
MxNBandit
I was told it was my trans, Not sure what my options are here, any ideas? Anything would help
MilesFox
substitute 'clutch' for the word 'trans' and it makes more sense. clutch cable is probably way too tight. common mistake people make, and then it ruins the pressure plate.
