Dumb Question Alert! Need quick answer. RE: 2000 Outback vs Legacy body panels.

Recommended Posts

I am assuming yes to be the answer, but the 00 legacy and outback fenders and hood would bolt up the same on each model right? (model meaning an Outback hood or fender could bolt right up to a Legacy since they are basically the same platform

not necessarily

Outback vs Legacy = different front bumper beams (using subaru's parts catalog to reference)

And that usually means - no. they're not the same.

the 00 Legacy vs outback hoods appear to be the same

the fenders however, differ.

could just be a slight trim issue, or could be a complete no go.

I cannot tell for sure without trying an install.

Hopefully someone has tried this before and has more insight?

Hope this helps a little bit!

my guess is its just the trim, lookin at the outback fender, it looks as you could remove the plastic and put on the legacy trim. might have a few extra holes from the outback plastic attachment. hmm. well, i'll find out on sunday when the guy comes to look at the stuff.

subaru's opposed forces website is a really good resource for this. it shows different part numbers for legacy and outback fenders.

it shows the same part numbers for foresters with different trims (S and L), which i've interchanged before by just swapping trim.

I'm using Subaru's EPC software as I work for Subaru.

As the 2 models use different bumper beams, the fenders and bumpers are likely not the same

Hoods yes.

But the other bits may not be compatible without swapping the beam/bumper/fenders.

Just like the early WRX here in the USA

2002-2007

The Sedan and Wagon use the same hoods.

But the bumpers/fenders are not compatible without swapping all components.
