Subi81
Goto "Springs" folder http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/subi81@sbcglobal.net/my_photos are those bolts suposed to be in there or are the two plates suposed to contact each other. The car seems to be about 1 inch to high in the front, even compared to my brothers 87. I remedied this gaser look buy jacking up the rear but even with an RX swaybar out back it is too leany for my taste. Makes my car look like a late ninties dodge ram, to much wheel space. I guess I am asking if I can take out the 2 bolts that are in there. Thanks
torxxx
no thats not stock. Stock has one nut that you can barely get a 21 or 22 mm open end wrench on it. I had to grind down my wrench a little bit to get it to fit
calebz
Are those on the 86?I need some of those.. mine are off a sedan and don't give me enough space..I wouldn't take the both nuts out, maybe 1..or just go to a yard and get some shorter struts off a 2wd car
Subi81
The shocks that are on ther are made by Monroe Gas-0-matic or something like that. The car came with them installed, not my doing.

Qman
Even though those are an aftermarket brand they have been messed with beyond that. The two nuts in between the perch and adjustment tab have been added. Looks like they may have even added a different bolt. It's much longer than stock. calebz
If you decide to get shorter ones, I would really like to have those. Provided they are still in decent shape. Thanks
ru4x4ever
You would get some lift but I would be worried about the bolt being out like that. On mine the bolts were inside the coil area away from the tires!! -Sean
Aldoat
Just took a look at my 86 Brat. I have the same type struts from Monroe. Installed them myself over a year ago (and even followed instruction sheet!). The bolts on mine are shorter and there are no nuts below the bottom plate. On mine, the blue welded on nut is as pictured in your setup. The spacing distance between the spring perch and the bottom plate in your pic is about equal to mine. Subi81
I agree with Qman, something ain't right. The bolts that stick down are almost 3 inches long. seems out of place calebz if I ever do replace them they are yours, they seem to be functioning correctly, not leaking any oil I guess I will have remedy it, does anyone have a pic of their setup, I just want to put it back to how it is supposed to be. Thanks for the replies!
