GLwagonlove
I am pretty much broke (no money), but need to do a oil change in my GL, because I put too much in last time (5 quarters). I found some old oil in storage, and I was wondering if oil is ever TOO old to put into a vehicle? It's about 2 years old, and it looks normal to me... I plan on putting 3 quarters of oil in with a quart of STP. What ya think? Thanks!
GLwagonlove
So I guess it's not a big deal... 8 views no replies. That's cool, I will do it then...
bratman2
If the bottles are unopened you will be fine. I would buy another quart of cheap oil before I put STP in.
GLwagonlove
Thanks Bratman. Yes they were unopened. Put 2 quarters oil, then STP, then top it off with oil. It purrs really nice now.

idosubaru
if you're broke don't bother with the STP, you're not gaining anything by using it. i also wouldn't change the oil just because it's overfilled. just drain it partially to get it where it needs to be. it's easy to do, i do it all the time to get transmission fluid levels right. just hold the oil plug up there and loosen it, once it's off keep pressure upwards and just tilt it a little to let oil slowly drain out. screw it back in and check the level. or drain it into a clean container and refill as necessary. 2 year old oil - no big deal.
