90 legacy AWD rough idle poor running.

Recommended Posts

I just bought my Legacy yesterday from a little old lady. It was never abused and it ran wonderful:)

Today it developed a rough idle and while driving it has lost power.

It has 142k on it. I checked for codes as the check engine light had come on and came up with code 35. Is the canister purge valve problematic?

Seems strange but I really thing it is a issue with the 02 sensor. Great forum and help is most appreciated. Regards Scott:-\

Hello, i recently bought a 92 sooby loyale, it was running bad and missing horribly, water pump leaking, clunking when accelerating, engine ticking, the people that sold it to me said a mechanic wanted to charge them 800 dollars to fix it and had to pull the motor... I found out that it was just a bad spark plug wire.. changed the plug wires, fixed the water pump, changed timing belts, and put in a new mickey mouse gasket in the oil pump... it runs pretty good now ! Have you checked the plug wires ? sometimes you can use an ohm meter to check them. I got a new set of plug wires for 8 dollars...

I had an injector fail on my lego after I got it. First thing I would do is pull each individual wire and see if that changes anything. If it was like mine, the second plug wire I pulled didn't change the way the car was running, so I new it was something to do with that cylinder. So I would start by pulling each individual wire and see what happens, and then report back here...

i would look for a vac leak first. it may not be the problem but it is an easy fix if it is . loose or cracked hose. check the small hoses that go to the passenger strut tower. it could be something more but hoses first.

i would also do a tune up, plugs, wires, filter, air filter ...and give the engine / car the once over. the car deserves it and you will enjoy it.
