Ballistic Sparkplug

Recommended Posts

Is that one of the kits that you tap and thread in a helicoil type thing with the stock threads in it then you splay the end with a punch they supply you with to keep it from spinning out? if so they work great i used on on an ej i picked up with a bad plug hole i cant remember the name for the life of me lol.

Cheers R.

This is the kit, I will use:

With the helicoil, I don't like the idea of the end of the wire that gets knocked off remaining in the combustion chamber for in-situ repairs.

With the D K tool, you are supposed to be able to use the reamer without drilling, but it looks like I will have to drill out a little metal before tapping. Will be using grease on the end of the drill, reamer and tap to collect metal shavings.

Yep, I concur with the tool linked a couple of posts above.

Used it on my '83 (300K + miles), still works great today. A few aluminum shavings in the cylinder may remain after using my 5-HP ShopVac, but no issues..I declared it a success.

Just my 2 bucks

You shouldn't have to drill. The kit I had you just put the tap on a 3/8" ratchet. I stuck the tap in wheel bearing grease so shavings would stick to it, and they did just that! If any got in the cylinder it didn't cause any issues.

And on your ea it'll be a lot easier than an ej, you can see the plug holes!
