Uberoo
I just finished up doing a 8" transfer case lift on my 83 EA81 wheeler. My stock exhaust needs to be modified to fit,but I don't have access to a welder anymore unless I can drive the beast somewhere to have an exhaust put on. I need to know a minimum safe length for the Exhaust "headers" so I wont damage the exhaust valves. thanks in advance. I can deal with loud,I have a problem with sucked/burned/warped valves. idosubaru
have no clue what the limits are but i've run a few miles/days with no exhaust before without any issues. not sure if a 6 cylinder XT6 is worse but i doubt it, either way it is deafening. Cyfun
As we've all seen dragsters and whatnot with headers and exhaust that ends by the transmission, I'd say 2 to 3 feet would probably be enough.

MilesFox
I go by the overall length of the y pipe does the job, the rest is muffler and tailpipe. But, i have also ran with open ports and no exhaust. The siamesed exhaust ports would create enough velocity to not burn valves like other engines
