Subaru_dude
What kind of muffler do you think would bring out the subie rumble? I'm not wanting to do full exhaust...

Get a Ebay UEL header for $200, that will give you the depth sound. Mine has it. -Tom
The Dude Abides
Its alittle to loud, i think a chambered muffler would give you alittle more tone.
TheLoyale
I run an UEL header with no muffler, and am gonna get a resonatored mid-pipe. Its not that loud in person unless your on it. It is loud enough to set off car alarms! You'll know when the Notorious Trashwagon rolls passed.
GeneralDisorder
On my sport sedan the turbo headers are very much like the borla-style UEL headers and with a 3" straight-through exhaust from the turbo-back it has a nice mean sound to it. There's a resonator in the mid-pipe and then the "muffler" is a 3" ID glass-pack style unit. It's a beast and I love the way it sounds. GD

Subaru_dude
For $200 that may be the route I go. But I'll have to have a muffler shop install it being there's no flange between the stock exhaust manifold and mid-pipe anymore... it's all one big piece. Durania
This is battlewagon's Outback. I'd love to put one of those headers on mine.
TheLoyale
This is the header you're gonna want to go with. Keep in mind when running an UEL Header, you will get an O2 Sensor code which can be fixed by spacing it out some so it reads less rich. And you will need to run an Genuine oil filter as WIX filters are to big and will hit the pipe. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-05-SUBARU-IMPREZA-2-5-RS-EJ25-STAINLESS-STEEL-HEADER-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQfitsZMakeQ3aSubaruQQhashZitem27ba47a6aeQQitemZ170628982446QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
Durania
Tom, he is already running the o2 spacer. If I wasn't such a cheapskate, I would throw one of those UEL headers on my 95 Outback.
WoodsWagon
A glasspack in the middle where the resonator was and a flowmaster 40 series on the back with 2 1/4 pipe from the front back sounds great with the stock headers. The cherry bomb glasspack was too loud on it's own, the flowmaster was worse, the two combined are perfect. Nice burble at idle, and sounds great opened up without an annoying drone during cruise.
