front strut replacement

Recommended Posts

NEW TO ME, 87 gl wagon, 4wd dual range, 5spd, 1.8, 218k miles, maintained.

It floats going down the road, so I want to tighten-up the suspension. Tie rod ends, ball joints, bushings, and struts. Please help with front struts selection: KYB has fronts for Hatch Back 4wd but not for the Wagon. Subaru parts # are the same for hatch and wagon, but will the after market parts listed for hatch fit the wagon? Monroe and Sachs both list struts for the wagon but I stubbornly wanted to stay matched with KYB for the front and rear. Use will be daily commute and light adventure trail rides around Phx AZ. Thx in advance.

I've got the KYB GR-2's on my '92 Loyale. If you talk to a KYB dealer you can get the right part numbers. The KYB website doesn't have them listed for wagons for some reason but they do make a set and they are really nice! I also swapped out the springs too because the stock springs were tired and saggy. I went with a set of King Springs, they are a direct fit for our EA82 wagons. got them from here: http://www.writerguy.com/primitive/susp.htm

Be aware that the hatchback is an ea81, and for 1987, the ea81 hatch and brat(80-89) were in production alongside ea82 wagon, coupe, and sedan(85-94.

your key words will be

1800 SOHC or OHC, and NOT OHV

85-94 in years listings

try an order for a 1990 loyale to eliminate ea81 cross references
