1blwngtp
I have a 1990 loyale turbo, I was wondering if any of you guys lowered them without doing the 5 lug conversion, if there is any springs that will work with them?
MilesFox
you can swap in physically shorter struts to lower, if you use ones from a FWD turbo xt. The xt spring may be shorter too. but for factory fit ea82 fare, FWD xt is what you should be looking at
87.5ea82txt
The 4wd rear struts are 2" shorter than the the 2wd rears. I have the full 2wd suspension on my 4wd xt and used 2" blocks on the front to level it.
92_rugby_subie
does anyone have any pics of this working out? How much of a drop are you looking at when you go with the 2WD struts? Is there going to be issues with speed bumps?
Caboobaroo
TheSubaruJunkie had some 2wd XT struts and springs on his RX a few years ago. The reason why the 2wd stuff is longer in the rear is because they mount to the trailing arm where the axle would be on the 4wd setup. If you want to lower it for the sake of lowering it, just get some Impreza coilover sleeves off of ebay. Cost under $100 usually for a set of four and they are adjustable typically. I have 2 sets; one on my XT6 and the other on my RX.

MilesFox
If you can find a picture of a 2wd xt, that will give you an idea.

Also, what year Imp kits work?
1blwngtp
yes please, only ones under 100 is for civics, I would love to lower my wagon
cal_look_zero
I'm right there too. Problem I'm running into is that the sellers don't have any technical data on spring rates, coil length, coil ID, etc. It wouldn't be hard to find a kit that would be comparable if that data was available. Caboobaroo
I just searched up ones for an Impreza and found both sets for under $100. I had to be patient when I was looking for my second set but I found them.
92_rugby_subie
What year Impreza? and what are the spring rates?
Caboobaroo
Never cared about spring rates myself because I used them just for the ride height change. I found them for '93-'01 Impreza. I plan to eventually go with a full coil over setup on both cars down the road.
